Kolkata, 11 February 2026: A new AICTE IDEA Lab was inaugurated at Dr. Sudhir Chandra Sur Institute of Technology & Sports Complex (SurTech), a JIS Group Educational Initiative at its Kolkata campus by Sardar Haranjit Singh, Joint Managing Director, JIS Group. Prof. (Dr.) Saradindu Panda, Principal, SurTech; Prof. Neeraj Saxena, Pro-Chancellor, JIS University; Prof. Bhaskar Gupta, Vice-Chancellor, JIS University; along with senior academicians, faculty members, and industry representatives were also present during the occasion.
The AICTE IDEA (Innovation, Design, Entrepreneurship and Augmentation) Lab is envisioned as a dynamic innovation hub to promote design thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on technical skills among students. Aligned with the national missions of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India, the lab enables students to transform ideas into prototypes and scalable solutions through experiential and interdisciplinary learning. The facility includes advanced fabrication and development infrastructure such as a Laser Cutting Lab, 3D Printing Lab, IoT & Robotics Lab, and PCB Design Lab. It is equipped with CNC and laser cutting machines, 3D printers, PCB prototyping systems, lathes, welding systems, and development platforms including Arduino, Raspberry Pi, and NodeMCU. The launch of the AICTE IDEA Lab reflects JIS Group’s commitment towards innovation-led education, industry collaboration, and entrepreneurship, empowering students to become job creators and future-ready engineers.
