30 June 2026: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), yesterday on 29, 2026 has arrested Proclaimed Offender (PO) Khalid-Uz-Zaman in Post-Poll Violence Case from a remote place situated at Yetala village in the Nanded district of Maharashtra. The accused was at large since registration of FIR in 2021 and he never joined investigation/trial.
The CBI registered the instant case on 01.09.2021, in compliance of the order of the Calcutta High Court, dated 19.08.2021, by taking over Duttapukur PS FIR No. 286/2021 relating to alleged killing of Hasnur Zaman on 03.05.2021 at North Kalsara village in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. After investigation, CBI filed Chargesheet/Supplementary Chargesheets against 13 accused persons in 2021-22, including the accused Khalid-Uz-Zaman. The accused will be produced before the Competent Court at Dharmabad for Transit Remand. Subsequently, he will be taken to Kolkata for production before the Court of Ld. Addl. Session Judge at Barasat, West Benagal.
