Tree Plantation and Environmental Awareness Programme organised in South Kolkata on World Environment Day




 

05 June 2026: On the occasion of World Environment Day, MY Bharat South Kolkata, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and Chetla Hind Sangha jointly organised an environmental awareness programme comprising a pledge ceremony, awareness rally, sapling distribution and tree plantation drive in South Kolkata.

The programme commenced at the premises of Chetla Hind Sangha, where Smt Papiya Adhikari, MLA of Tollygunge Assembly Constituency, flagged off the environmental awareness rally. Before the start of the rally, she administered an environmental protection pledge to participants, encouraging citizens to adopt sustainable practices and contribute towards environmental conservation.

The event witnessed the participation of SSB Inspector Shri Ajit Ranjan along with SSB personnel, Accountant, MY Bharat South Kolkata, Shri Anand Mondal, President of Chetla Hind Sangha and Secretary of Nikhil Banga Kalyan Samiti Shri Pranab Guha, Additional Officer, Chetla Police Station, Shri Niladri Shekhar Dubey and members of Lions Club of Kolkata Safalya Sampriti, among others.

Welcoming the participants, Shri Guha highlighted the importance of community participation in protecting the environment and preserving green spaces in urban areas. 

The awareness rally passed through nearby localities, carrying messages on environmental protection, tree conservation and sustainable living.

The programme concluded with a tree plantation drive at Chetla Park, where SSB personnel, members of Chetla Hind Sangha, MY Bharat volunteers and other participants planted saplings as a symbolic commitment towards building a greener and healthier environment.

The initiative reflected the spirit of collective action and environmental responsibility, reinforcing the message of World Environment Day and encouraging citizens to contribute actively towards ecological sustainability.
