A Seminar & workshop on Child Mental Health and Protection in Schools




28 July 2026: A three-day Seminar & workshop Seminar & workshop titled "Intervention for Strengthening Child Mental Health and Protection in Schools" has been conducted from 27th July to 29th July 2026 at C.R. Gasper Memorial Hall. The program has been organized jointly by St. Augustine’s Day School & Azim Premji Foundation Hyderabad. 
The programme is an initiative dedicated to promoting child protection and strengthening mental health practices in schools. It aims to equip educators, teachers, and school counselor with the knowledge, skills, and practical strategies required to foster safe, inclusive, and emotionally supportive learning environments for children.
The sessions will be led by Dr. Richard Gasper, Principal of the school along with two distinguished experts in the field of child and adolescent mental health:
Dr. Shekhar Seshadri, a renowned child and adolescent psychiatrist with extensive experience in child mental health, school mental health, and child protection.
Dr. Sheila Ramaswamy, an eminent expert in child protection and psycho-social care, who has worked extensively on safeguarding children's rights and well-being.
 Dr. Shekhar Seshadri has informed in Press meet that over the course of three days, participants will engage in interactive discussions and practical learning on strengthening mental health support systems in schools, recognizing and responding to the psycho-social needs of children, implementing effective child protection measures, and building nurturing educational environments.
 Dr. Sheila Ramaswamy has said that the programme underscores the growing need for schools to adopt comprehensive approaches that prioritize both the mental well-being and safety of every child. By empowering educators and counselors, the initiative seeks to enhance the capacity of schools to identify concerns early, respond appropriately, and promote resilience and positive mental health among students.
Dr. Richard Gasper has said that educators, teachers, school counselors, and professionals working in the education and child development sectors are encouraged to participate in this important learning opportunity.
