CBI Arrests Proclaimed Offender in West Bengal Sukanta Ghosh Murder Case

 14 July 2026: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), today has arrested Proclaimed Offender Shibu Kumar Singh, one of the accused in Sukanta Ghosh murder case. He was arrested from his hideout at Raiganj Road, South Gandhi Ashram, Gorakhpur, where he was living under the assumed name Akhilesh Kumar Shahi.

The instant case was registered pursuant to the order of the Calcutta High Court dated 27.08.2009. After investigation, the CBI filed chargesheet and supplementary chargesheet on 31.12.2010 and 14.11.2011, respectively, against Shibu Kumar Singh and three others.

Absconding for several years, the accused Shibu Kumar Singh was declared a Proclaimed Offender on 15.09.2016. The accused was apprehended on the basis of human intelligence and technical inputs. After obtaining a transit warrant, the accused will be taken to Kolkata tomorrow for production before the Competent Court.
