Metro Railway, Kolkata observed World Breastfeeding Week from 1st August to 7th August 2026. As part of the week-long programme, a seminar was organized today i.e. on 07.08.2026 at Tapan Sinha Memorial Hospital (TSMH).
Dr. Chaitali Patra, Sr. DMO, Eastern Railway, highlighted the importance and numerous benefits of breastfeeding for both infants and mothers. She elaborated its role in strengthening the emotional bond between mother and child and explained this year's World Breastfeeding Week's theme, "Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in life: Strengthen What Works."
Dr. Arun Kumar Prasad, ACMS, Metro Railway also highlighted the significance of breastfeeding and conducted an interactive questionnaire session with the participants to enhance awareness.
Dr. Rina Mukherjee, PCMO, Metro Railway also explained the importance of breastfeeding in this seminar.
