02 September 2026: Indian Bank, Barasat Zone organised a Mega Town Hall Meeting for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) at Barrackpore, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, today with the objective of strengthening engagement with the MSME sector and creating greater awareness about various banking and financial support mechanisms available to entrepreneurs.
The programme was graced by Shri Sudhanshu Prasad, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India, Kolkata, as the Chief Guest. The event was attended by several senior officials and key stakeholders of the MSME ecosystem, including Shri Neelmani Bhardwaj, Field General Manager, Indian Bank; Shri Balbir Singh, General Manager, SLBC, West Bengal; Smt. Rashmi Rani, General Manager, RBI; Shri Sanjay Senapati, WBCS (Exe.), Deputy Magistrate, Barrackpore Sub-Division; and Shri Suvendu Kumar Biswas, General Manager, DIC, North 24 Parganas. Representatives from MSME DFO, SIDBI, NSIC, TReDS, CIBIL, various banks and MSME Associations also participated in the programme.
The Town Hall brought together MSME entrepreneurs, borrowers, RSETI trainees and members of various MSME clusters, providing an effective platform for interaction among entrepreneurs, bankers, regulators and institutions supporting the MSME sector.
The programme focused on creating awareness about MSME banking and financing schemes, credit information reports including CIBIL and other CIC reports, TReDS and other financial and institutional support available to MSME enterprises. The participants were also sensitised about the importance of maintaining sound financial and credit discipline for ensuring continued access to institutional finance.
A major highlight of the programme was the interactive session with MSME entrepreneurs and borrowers. Participants actively shared their experiences, raised queries and discussed issues concerning credit requirements, banking services and other challenges faced in running and expanding their enterprises. The interactive discussions provided an opportunity for stakeholders to understand the concerns of entrepreneurs and explore ways to make financial services more accessible and responsive to their needs.
The programme reaffirmed Indian Bank’s commitment towards supporting the MSME sector and fostering an enabling ecosystem for entrepreneurship, employment generation and sustainable economic growth. Through such initiatives, the Bank seeks to strengthen its partnership with MSME entrepreneurs and facilitate their access to appropriate banking products, credit and financial awareness.
The Mega Town Hall concluded with a shared commitment among the participating stakeholders to work collaboratively towards building a stronger, more inclusive and sustainable MSME ecosystem in West Bengal.
